    The Egyptian Lotus: Model of Cosmic and Individual Birth and
    Rebirth.  Professor Peter Dorman and Professor Janet Johnson, thesis advisors.
July - August 1999.  Research on the Archaic period in southern Indiana and the
    chronological framework of prehistoric North America. Conducted as preparation
    for the production of teaching materials generated from
    the Clark county project and intended for the Kentucky Public School system.

Research Interests:
Philosophy and the attitudes towards life in ancient Egypt, especially religion; the syncretism,           
    pantheism and the multiplicity of forms; the use of symbolism to encode theological
    concepts; the symbolic nature of colors, the landscape of the afterlife; the nature of the
    existent and nonexistent in Egyptian thought; political use of propaganda and art in ancient
    Egyptian society.

    Conducted phase I archaeological survey at Old Brownsboro Crossing,
    northeastern Jefferson County, KY.

Religious research conducted via questionnaire. Interview of randomly selected individuals from
Bloomington, surrounding areas, Fort Wayne and Chicago.
Research conducted for Professor Ravi Jonnal, Scientific Reasoning Course at Indiana University
concerning regional distribution of Religions and religious denominations.

Archaeological: Archival and reference duties for research archives, records check, foot
    survey, shovel probe, mapping, machine stripping via bulldozer and backhoe (i.e.
    following the dozer), Geomorphologic profiling of deep backhoe trenches and
    long strip trenches. Recording of historic remains, feature excavation, thick–
    section preparation, photography. Technical archaeological illustration (pencil or
    ink). Map drawing, diagrams of features (wall and floor plans) and artifacts.
    Artifact drawing, realistic rendering (pastels, painting). Total Data Station
    operation, Artifact Cleaning.
Museum: collections cataloguing and storing,  handling of antique materials
    (including photographs ca. 1880s – 1915).
Computer: Apple and PC,  graphic programs, word processing, PowerPoint,
    Photoshop and Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Excell, internet research.
Craft Skills: ceramics (use of manufactured clays; processing and use of natural clay),
    fabrics, jewelry.
